Update to Nexus S’s Gingerbread OS 2.3.2 – Prevent Sending Texts to Wrong Person

A couple of days ago, we told you about the upcoming update that will prevent sending texts to the wrong person on the Nexus S. We’ve been expecting to see it start rolling out over the air soon, but maybe you’re tired of waiting? Well, there’s a simple manual update that comes straight from Google.

If you’re a Nexus S owner wanting to make sure that your phone is running the latest and greatest, and especially if you’re having problems with the recent SMS bug, you’ll want to be grabbing this update. Download this file and rename it to update.zip. Copy it to the root of your SD card, and install it from recovery. If you’re not sure how to update from recovery mode, follow these steps.
  • Turn off your phone

  • Hold down volume up + power key

  • If prompted, choose recovery mode

  • Select the option to apply update.zip

  • We haven’t yet heard any reports of this causing any problems with your phone, but it might be a good idea to back up your data first. And as always, if you’re not completely comfortable with this process, it might be best to wait for an OTA update.  As always, we take no responsibility for problems that might arise, though this file is from Google directly, so it should be safe.READ MORE....
