HTC Thunderbolt Delayed Until March 4th?

The twitter account for Best Buy #129 tweeted the message above on Wednesday evening suggesting that the Verizon Wireless HTC Thunderbolt is being delayed until March 4th.
What we do know is that it’s not coming out on February 24th as originally announced and doesn’t seem like it’s coming on February 28th either.  Somewhere between CES and now something has gone drastically wrong with the first 4G/LTE smartphone on Verizon.
At first there were rumors that Verizon was keeping the HTC Thunderbolt at bay to make way for the launch of the iPhone 4 on Verizon. That proved to not be the case for a couple of reasons. First off, with the soft launch that Verizon had when the iPhone 4 hit retail shelves on February 10th, they would have done better to launch the device sooner rather than later.
Secondly the rumors that WiFi Hotspot was removed, and then restored for 5 users, and then 8 were sharply off place. The rumor that went hand in hand with the hotspot rumor though, the one about Skype with video seems to be true.
In talking with a couple of our Verizon ninjas we’ve come to the conclusion that Verizon is still having problems switching between 3G and LTE. Now it’s not acceptable to have these problems at all however with data we are used to lag here and there. If we were on a call though and changing from 4G to 3G and back anything more than a simultaneous handoff would be unacceptable.
One of our test center ninjas said that they are still testing things pertaining to handoffs.  The HTC Thunderbolt had such promise back in January when we saw it in Las Vegas but right now AT&T is leading the pack with new Android 4G devices
