How to access NFC based Tap and Pay on Google Pay India

Unlike in the rest of the world where supported, Google Pay in India doesn’t feature the NFC based contactless payment method. It seems to change soon as Google has stealthily started rolling out the Tap and Pay option to the Google Pay users in India. Finally offering a competition to Samsung Pay which has been the sole service supporting contactless card payment in India since a couple of years ago.

If your device supports NFC and is running the most recent versions of Android, then you ought to have the option to use the contactless payment mode on your Google Pay app. Here is how you can access the feature on Google Pay:

ADD CARD ON GOOGLE PAY

1. Open Google Pay, earlier known as Tez (nostalgic?)

Once you successfully registers the card, you can tap-to-pay on NFC-enabled POS terminals or make online payments without getting redirected to 3D secure sites. “We are rolling this out for users of Visa cards on Axis Bank and SBI credit cards, with more issuers coming soon,” said Sajith Sivanandan, Business Head, Google Pay and Next Billion Users initiatives, India.

Note that, you have to go through a verification process before you set up your card for payment. If you’ve earlier used Samsung Pay, then you’d know how to. In case no, just know that the process requires you to input the OTP number received from your bank. Once your card is registered successfully, you can start paying using NFC-enabled terminals via the Google Pay app.

Registration opened for Realme C2 Android 10 Early Access

Realme has recently confirmed Android 10 update for the dirt-cheap budget smartphone Realme C2. The update which is estimated to arrive on September in stable is now undergoing testing. Good thing, the Chinese firm is inviting registrations for Android 10 Early Access Program.

The Android 10 update for the Realme C2 comes on top of Realme UI 1.0. As you’d know, the device ships with ColorOS 6 based on Android 9.0. And, Realme is no longer using ColorOS branding for its devices, but Realme UI.

As of the early access program which is being conducted in two phases for the users in India. You have to apply for the same on a Google form shared by Realme. The deadline for the registration is 12th August 2020. So, if you’d like to be a beta tester then do apply before the time. Also, it’s to be kept in mind that the first phase registration accepts only valid 1,000 registrations.

Phase 1 Details [Early Access Application]

Apply for the beta registration from Link 1 or Link 2. You’ll be required to fill your contact details, IMEI Number etc. in the required fields.

Most importantly, to be eligible for the beta testing your device should be on the version: RMX1941EX_11.A.28. Once your application has been accepted, the beta update should hit your device via OTA on 13th August 2020 by the earliest.

Be careful, as the beta version can have some serious stability issues. Hence if you can’t take the risk then better don’t apply now or wait for the 2nd phase by then the builds should be matured enough. Much better to wait for the stable which is expected to come in September.

  pressing Power On button + Volume Down button for few seconds


• You will see MIUI bunny when it is in fastboot mode


• Now, connect your smartphone to the computer using a USB cable


• Windows will install all the necessary USB drivers


• Open Xiaomi Mi Flash tool


• Go to”Select” option and locate the fastboot ROM file


• Click flash

Android 11 Beta 3 released, one step closer to the stable!

In Addition, Android 11 Beta 3 comes with a finalized SDK by which developers can build their apps as they prepare for Android 11. Perhaps, with the Android 11 beta 2 itself, Google has pushed the OS to Platform Stability status necessary enough for the developers. Upon the arrival of beta 3, devs can target their apps to official API 30 SDK thanks to the new tools and updates available through Android Studio.

As per the announced changes, Android 11 Beta 3 packs an update for Exposure Notifications System (ENS), Google and Apple’s COVID-19 contact tracing API. Which is simply, now users can run apps using ENS without the need to turn on device location settings on Android 11. Google says that this exception is being made for apps utilizing the Exposure Notification System only, given that it has been developed in such a way that the COVID-19 tracing apps using it can’t infer device location through Bluetooth scanning.  The new implementation should curb the privacy issues related to such apps to an extent.

Samsung opens Android 11 based OneUI 3.0 beta update registration for developers

Realme C3 picks a new update with July 2020 Security Patch

Realme is the one and only company in providing the Security Patch updates regularly. Recently, Realme X50 Pro, X50m, 3, 3i, and many more smartphones have got the July 2020 Security Patch update. Now, the company started rolling out a similar update for Realme C3 users. The update appears as the RMX2020_11.A.37 Firmware version and it is currently limited to Indian users only.

What’s Changed?

According to the Changelog, the update brings fixes for reported issues, new add-ons, optimizations to increase the stability. The new add-ons include the Serbian system language and switch of rotating the guide bars feature. It also brings optimizations for speed of the App Startup (recent apps), speed of installing the application, fingerprint recognition rate and battery icon display while charging, etc.

OPPO K7 5G with Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G unveiled in China

Nearly a year after the release of OPPO K5, OPPO is giving a refresh to the K-Series by the launch of OPPO K7 5G in China. Apparently, the OPPO K7 5G comes as the first K Series device to boast the 5G network capability, thanks to its powerful and capable Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G Mobile Platform.

The OPPO K7 is available in two storage variants. The base model is priced at CNY 1,999 (approx. INR. 21,500) and offers 8GB RAM and 128GB primary storage. Its beefed-up counterpart with the 8GB + 256GB storage is priced at CNY 2,299 (approx. INR. 25,000), as per the listing on Chinese retailer JD.com.

OPPO K7 5G Specifications

As per the listing on various e-commerce sites in China, the dual-SIM OPPO K7 runs on ColorOS 7.1 based on Android 10. It features a 6.4-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) AMOLED display. As mentioned earlier, powering the phone the mid-range beast SoC, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G Mobile Platform, coupled with the Adreno GPU 620.

Coming to the optics, a quad-camera array is seen in the back lead by a 48MP sensor of f/1.7 aperture. Three other auxiliary sensors of 8+2+32MP resolutions accompany the main sensor. For selfies, you’ll get a 32MP camera with f/2.0 aperture embedded in the dew-drop notch.

Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi, 4G-LTE, NFC, GPS, a USB Type-C port for charging and fortunately a 3.5mm headphone jack. Fuelling the device is a 4,025mAh battery that supports 30W fast charging. In terms of dimensions, the Oppo K7 measures 160.3×74.3×7.96mm and weighs 180 grams.

You won’t feel any lack of choice when it comes to colour options, as the OPPO K7 is available in at least 5 different hues. Some of the colour brandings are – Flowing Cloud, Flow Flame, Sea Night, Mystery Black and Perak Lemon variant. It will go on sale starting August 11 and is currently up for pre-orders on various online retailers including TMall, JD.com and Suning.

Realme has unveiled the first of its V Series smartphone, the Realme V5 in China. The phone comes as a result of a series of leaks and rumours which we’ve been closely following since a while. Being a mid-ranger, the V5 starts at CNY 1,399 (around INR. 15,000) and packs some powerful features.

Powering the Realme V5 is a MediaTek Dimensity 720 SoC which peaks at 2.0 GHz. The device comes with a hole-punch display and a quad-camera setup at the back comprising of a 48MP main camera. A beefy 5,000mAh battery keeps its lights on with 30W flash charge support as an icing on the cake. The phone has a USB Type-C port and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
