Samsung Galaxy S gets Android 2.3.5 update in Europe

If you are a Samsung Galaxy S user that has felt left out when it comes to Gingerbread, your update is coming. At least that update is coming in Europe. That update should be available now or very shortly for users of the Galaxy S in Europe via KIES. It’s been a whole since we talked about that Galaxy S smartphone, we reviewed it way back in March of this year.

Along with the update come a change log of what the smartphone gets feature wise. The update adds an animation shadow at the end of scroll lists. The messages app gets faster start up for opening SMS or sending them. The battery life and power consumption is improved as well.
Overall performance of the phone is improved and there were bugs fixed in the system app. A hang issue with the OEM screen was patch and the picker app was improved. It also gets enhancements to the camera. If you apply this update, be sure and let us know how it works out.

Original Galaxy Tab Getting Android 2.3.5 Upgrade through Verizon

The Samsung Galaxy Tab attempted to do what no other tablet would: take on the iPad head-to-head. That first 7-inch offering didn’t topple Apple’s place atop the Tablet heap, but its release marked the beginning of the onslaught of Android tablets from all manufacturers that we see today. Samsung has since followed up that noble effort with a series of Galaxy Tabs, and most recently announced a new 7-inch slate to replace the original. But there is no love lost, at least for Verizon subscribers. The carrier has just posted the release notes of an Android 2.3.5 update headed towards the Galaxy Tab. It’s not Ice Cream Sandwich, nor is it even Honeycomb, but it is a bit more than what many might have expected. Improvements abound, check the source link for the full changelog.

Devices reported to receive the update reside in the U.K. and have generic stock ROMs. The new version of the operating system also brings the new HTC Sense to the phone, in its version 3.0 iteration. As with every ROM update that is happening over the air, this one is rolling out in stages too. Let us know if you've got the refresh (and where you live, operator, etc.)

Samsung Rolls Out Galaxy S II Android 2.3.5 Update

When we plugged in our unlocked Samsung Galaxy S II to the PC this morning, an update to the KIES software was available to download. After installing the refresh, we were notified of the existence of a software update for the phone itself. It is described as an update that will improve the performance of the phone but for version number connaisseurs it is PDA:KI3 / PHONE:KI3 / CSC:KI3 (XEO). After updating the Samsung Galaxy S II now runs Google's Android Gingerbread 2.3.5 (instead of 2.3.4) and the ROM appears to be the same KI3 which was recently leaked. Among the changes you'll also see that TouchWiz Android was updated in order to respect Apple copyrights regarding the scrolling. Before the update, when you were in Settings and scrolled (or any other list), reaching the top or the bottom of the list would bounce the list a little. Now the item on the top or bottom is highlighted in color when reaching the end of the list.

The latest leak represents Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread for the Samsung Galaxy S II. The firmware version is I9100XXKI3, which translates to European version 3, dated September 15. For those of you who can't wait for the update to hit your devices via official channels, head over to the source link and grab the update (of course, acknowledging the risks involved).
