ASUS Transformer Prime Pre-Orders Start at Amazon

Perhaps a bit confusing since the product name only mentions “ASUS Transformer” and I’m logged in with my Amazon Prime-enabled account. But don’t be fooled, as clearly indicated in the specs this is indeed the ASUS Transformer Prime, the first Android Tablet with a quad-core processor, courtesy of the NVIDIA Tegra 3 beast powering this bad boy. As you can see there are 32GB and 64GB options that come in Gray and Champagne. It appears the front bevel is black either way- this color option only applies to the back.
So go ahead… make sure Santa and his elves have plenty of time to piece together the prime in time to slide it down your chimney by pre-ordering now.

ASUS Transformer Prime Overview Page Now Live – Provides In Depth Info and Downloadable Manual

The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime is sure to be a hot item this holiday season and we happened upon the official overview page, now live, on ASUS.com. While, this isn’t exactly news, I did feel it would be a great place to direct friends and family, possibly on the fence about which tablet to purchase for the holidays. Just like Google’s Galaxy Nexus page, the Transformer Prime page goes a little more in depth on all the individual features of the disturbingly thin tablet, showing off its hardware and new software.
If you would live to check it out the overview for yourself or bookmark so you can share with others, hit up that source link where you can also find the user manual available for download. Inside the manual? Well, just your typical level 5 tech support tips like, “if your device doesn’t recognize your SD card, remove it and place it back in.” Derp.
Thanks, Sean!

Snapdragon MSM8960 processor spied in benchmarks inside Asus Padfone

Someone who has an early version of the new Asus Padfone has decided to benchmark the Android device on GLBenchamrk and the results are in the database. The interesting part is that the info in the database points to a Qualcomm chip inside that hasn’t been released yet. This gives us our first idea of how well the platform will perform.

The Padfone in question appears to be running the new Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 processor. The MSM8960 S4 is the quad-core Snapdragon part that will combat the Tegra 3 chipset from NVIDIA. The S4 is expected to run from 1.5GHz to 2.5GHz. I’d be the 1.5GHz is what we will see in smartphone guise.
The performance for the smartphone with the S4 processor inside is very good. This Padfone should provide a nice little upgrade to the original that will be welcome when crammed inside that tablet accessory. There is no word on when the new device will launch, but it should be one of the first with the new S4 inside.

Transformer Prime pre-orders go live in Germany

The tablet market is looking up for ze Germans. Just a day or so after the Apple-busting Samsung Galaxy 10.1V went on sale, German citizens can now order the Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime. Technically the tablet isn’t even a pre-order, it’s labelled as”out of stock”, though the seller is Asus so we’re not looking at any third-party shenanigans.

599 Euros is a pretty steep price when you’ll be able to get the same device for $599 in the US, a converted difference of about $200. Officially the Transformer Prime won’t be available until December, a vague date that Asus hasn’t amended with regional specifics. Considering that there’s no new information on availability on the merchant page, I’d advise would-be importers to hold off for the moment and wait for some more solid info.
The Transformer Prime is the first tablet to feature Nvidia’s blazing 1.4Ghz quad-core Tegra 3 processor, and boy, does it show. Even so it’s a svelte 8.3mm while managing to cram in a 12-hour (quoted) battery life and either 32 or 64GB of on-board storage. Add the updated keyboard dock (which sadly won’t work with the original Transformer) and you can extend the battery to a full 18 hours while typing away. The Transformer Prime will launch with Honeycomb, but Asus has promised a quick upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich, possibly making the Prime the very first tablet to support thew new software officially.

ASUS Transformer Prime Smart Cover revealed

While we all sit and patiently wait for the ASUS Transformer Prime and its quad-core Tegra 3 power to actually hit the shelves and our fingertips, we’ll settle for a few accessories. This here is the Transformer Prime smart cover and I have a feeling Apple wont be happy with what they see. It looks quite a bit different if you ask me, but you never know these days.

We don’t have full details or if this will be an official accessory from ASUS but this here is the smart cover that will protect your lovely tablet, and double as a stand at the same time — who woulda thought? It appears as if this smart cover has learned a thing or two from the Japanese and becomes an Origami master and folds into a neat little stand although the angle might be too low for some. See the image below for an idea of what I mean when I say Origami.

It looks very similar to that unofficial Samsung smart cover we saw a few months back that Samsung quickly denied having any part with to obviously avoid a lawsuit from the likes of Apple. Again, we aren’t sure if this will be sold or marketed right from ASUS but I have a feeling it wont. Either way this case looks as awesome as the tablet does and I surely will be buying both when the time comes.
Who else is buying this quad-core beast — now with a neat little case?

ASUS Transformer Prime camera samples show off stunning images

Not everyone walks around with a huge DSLR camera on their neck, or even a decent point and shoot for that matter. Today we’ll be showing you a few amazing samples from the upcoming ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime quad-core tablet’s camera. Obviously no one walks around 24/7 with a tablet either but if the opportunity presents itself, the Prime can take some mighty impressive photos with that 8 megapixel f2.4 aperture camera lens.
\

We all know plenty about the Transformer Prime but just in case here’s the impressive details. It was announced last week being powered by the brand new superchip that we call the NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor and will pounce the competition into the ground. Not only is it the thinnest and lightest tablet yet, but it will also be the most powerful hands down. Along with the impressive specs ASUS also has included the best camera optics of any tablet (or smartphone) and the Prime’s 8 megapixel camera should be one, if not the best available.

Above are a few details regarding the camera we’ll get with the Prime. The faster and impressive f2.4 aperture will ensure you capture some amazing photos with this thing. Most devices like the myTouch 4G Slide has impressive cameras but are still at f2.8 so this gives the Prime even more of an advantage. There isn’t much else to say regarding this so I’ll just let you enjoy the highly impressive image samples in the gallery below.
What do you think? If the quad-core wasn’t enough to have your credit card waiting and ready, is the camera?

ASUS Transformer Prime caught in the wild [Gallery]

Whoa, if you’ve been wanting to see more pictures of the just announced ASUS Transformer Prime quad-core tablet then you are in for a treat. It was just made official rocking the new NVIDIA quad-core Tegra 3 processor and we had plenty of press photos, but now we have real live pictures of this beastly tablet in the wild so enjoy the full gallery below.

First off, these are no average blurry photos. Instead we have some awesome pictures showing us plenty of details regarding this awesome new quad-core tablet. This first photo shows how beautifully thin this thing really is. Compared to the iPhone 4 and the DROID RAZR it’s looking pretty sleek. All that power packed into that small package just screams “Buy me now”, as if the specs didn’t have us all thinking that already.

We have a full gallery of awesomeness here. with pictures comparing it to the original Transformer and even showing off the new keyboard dock too. I wont say much more and instead will just remind you all of the specs on this slate, then let you enjoy the gallery of photos. The Transformer Prime rocks the new NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core processor, with 1GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, front and rear cameras, aluminum body design, micro-USB and micro-HDMI ports and more all packed into a beautifully thin frame at just 8.3mm (0.33″) and weighs less than any other 10″ tablet currently on the market. asus_eee_pad_transformer_tf201_prime_2 asus-prime1 asus-prime2 asus-prime4 asus-prime5 asus-prime6 asus-prime7 asus-prime8 asus-prime9

Asus confirms no 3G Transformer Prime at launch

The Asus Transformer Prime tablet went official today with the price set at $499 and packing a Tegra 3 quad core CPU under the hood. The tablet will officially launch in December here in the states and then it will hit the UK in January. Sadly, the launch will be without Ice Cream Sandwich onboard, which was rumored to be the reason the tablet was delayed from the original November launch.

As you peruse the specs of the tablet, you might be wondering about a 3G version and hoping that is going to be offered. Asus has confirmed to sister site SlashGear that there will be no 3G version of the Transformer Prime offered at launch. The 3G tablet will presumably follow a few months behind the WiFi only version as Asus did with the original Transformer.
Asus told SlashGear that they “might” release the 3G version later. The confirmation also came that the Transformer Prime will be coming to the US in 64GB and 32GB versions. In the UK, only the 32GB version will be offered. That optional keyboard dock will sell for $149. The 32GB version will sell for $499 in the US with the 64GB going for $599.

ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime gets official: Tegra 3 quad-core Tab starting at $499

Oh man, I’m getting excited just thinking about this device. Today ASUS has officially announced the much anticipated Transformer Prime, the first tablet ever with a quad-core processor. Taking advantage of the brand new NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core mobile processor this will truly be the ultimate consumption device and the most powerful consumer tablet on the planet. Gaming will be like never before, and performance will be maximized all while still offering 12 hours of battery life. I can’t wait!

We have seen our fair share of leaks lately of the new Prime and its keyboard, then these benchmark results quickly followed. Today ASUS has finally made the Prime official although we all knew it was coming, especially with the Transformer Prime landing page launched late last month.

In cased anyone somehow managed to miss the specs here is what we know. The ASUS Transformer Prime will be rocking a 10.1″ Super IPS+ display at 1280 x 800 resolution (with Gorilla Glass), 1GB of RAM, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage, micro-SD and micro-HDMI support, front and rear cameras, and then that all important quad-core NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor. We have an 8 megapixel camera on the rear and a 1.2 front for video chat all wrapped in a brushed aluminum finish. The Transformer Prime will also be rocking an extremely thin form factor at just 8.3mm thin (0.33″) and weighs in at a mere 586g (1.29lbs). That is actually a hair thinner and lighter than the current champion in the Galaxy Tab 10, just for some comparison.

We didn’t get any official details on the battery size, but ASUS is stating 12 hours of hardcore battery life. You can watch several movies in a row on a road trip, or enjoy hours of hardcore gaming. The extremely efficient Tegra 3′s advanced power management and “companion core” will help make the Transformer Prime be not only the most powerful tablet, but have some of the best battery life available at the same time. Then with the optional keyboard dock pictured above the Transformer Prime will actually have a run-time of around 18 hours.
I know you’re all wondering and sadly it has been confirmed to be launching with Android 3.2 Honeycomb at first, and will be updated to ICS as soon as possible. ASUS feels great about the Prime and will have an update out as soon as the code is ready. We reported earlier today the Prime was delayed til December specifically for the fact that it will launch with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, but sadly that doesn’t appear to be the case.
The ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime, the worlds first quad-core tablet will be $499 for the 32GB model and $599 for the 64GB variant. The optional keyboard dock will also be priced at $149.

Asus tipped to push Transformer Prime to Dec for Android 4.0

We have heard bits and pieces about the coming Asus Transformer Prime tablet already. We have even seen a few benchmarks of the new tablet surface and it looks to be very fast indeed. If you have been holding out for one of these tablets, a new rumor is claiming that the launch of the tablet has been pushed.

According to the rumor, Asus will push the tablet to a December launch specifically so it can be fitted with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This delay for the newer OS is said by some to be an attempt to prevent tablet shoppers from moving to Windows tablets. The same sources that claim the delay is to help prevent Windows tablet defections also say that Google is cozying up to Asian tablet makers that had been ignored to some extent in the past.
The Transformer Prime was initially expected to hit on November 9. It has made its way through the FCC already with the new Tegra 3 chip onboard. According to sources, the tablet will launch in early December and will pack ICS rather than Honeycomb when unwrapped. At least the tablet will be here by Christmas.

ASUS Transformer update rolling out now, Netflix included

All of you lucky ASUS Eee Pad Transformer owners should be happy to know an OTA update is hitting devices today. No, this is not Ice Cream Sandwich sadly but there are a few changes and improvements and so far we are hearing good things. The Transformer was updated to Android 3.2.1 Honeycomb late September, the latest version of Honeycomb and today that hasn’t changed but we do have build version 8.6.5.18 in a small incremental update.

So far ASUS has been mighty impressive with the amount of updates, and the speed at which they’ve brought them. According to sources the new update brings a slew of performance enhancements, bug fixes, and apparently a new app backup implementation. Apparently non ASUS apps can be backed up and restores to another ASUS tablet so users wont lose that all important game data and progress on Angry Birds, or anything else for that matter. Here is a list of updates according to the ASUS Facebook page.

Right at the top you’ll see the new App backup, and that the popular Netflix comes pre-installed. Sadly this is the recently updated version of Netflix only and we still don’t have an official Honeycomb tablet UI. There are some major improvements to battery consumption especially while using the dock, along with some Wi-Fi improvements. Then we have tons of applications that have been updated in this latest OTA update but all of that is listed above.
The new OTA update for the ASUS Transformer should be hitting devices over the next few days. As always, users can manually go into settings > about tablet > and check for updates themselves should they not want to wait for an OTA notification. Enjoy the latest update and feel free to let us know how things go in the comment section below. I can’t wait for the Transformer Prime myself, especially with the awesome update history ASUS has shown thus far.
