Which 4G Android Phone is Best? [4G Wars]

With AT&T and Verizon all set to unleash their first 4G handsets with two HTC devices (the Inspire 4G and Thunderbolt, respectively), the four major US carriers will soon all carry at least one 4G Android smartphone. By summer, all will have multiple options and it will be safe to say that the next generation of wireless has arrived. With this in mind, there has never been a better time than now to give you a rundown of what is coming up, how the devices and carriers stack up, and which will reign supreme. While superphone specs like dual-core processors, mass amounts of RAM, and 4G radios all weigh heavily on the final decision, the 4G technology deployed and strength of a particular carriers coverage also play an important role....

ASUS just showed off a whole lineup of Android tablets at CES, but chairman Jonney Shih is already touting what’s on the horizon. He apparently has the inside scoop one what will be powering the Apple iPad 2 — supposedly a dual-core ARM Cortex A9-based chip — and claims his company’s future NVIDIA Tegra 2 tablets will have the edge. In fact, Shih said, “to really compete it will take [Apple] some time” to catch up to what ASUS is bringing.Throw Android 3.0 Honeycomb on whatever they have coming up and I’d say Shih might be talking the truth. In fact, his real competition might end up being Android tablets such as the Motorola XOOM and LG G-Slate.READ MORE.... FOLLOW US ON TWITTER   JOIN US ON FACEBO...

It appears, according to a source reporting to German Android website HTC Inside, a stocklist from Vodafone has just had a new phone by the name of Desire 2, aka HTC Desire 2, entered in. Does this point toward imminent release as well as an announcement in Barcelona? We’ve got a hunch.Another possibility is that this phone will end up being the European version of what’s soon to be announced as the HTC Pyramid. This Pyramid phone is said to be HTC’s first dual-core Android smartphone, using a 1.2GHz Snapdragon MSM8260 processor running a heafty 4.3-inch qHD display. Samsung TV Remote App Now Available for all Android 2.1+ Devices

We’ve got word that the fabulous Samsung TV Remote App that’s been in Samsung Apps for a while now on Galaxy S / Galaxy Tab is now available for all Android devices version 2.1 and higher. We’re having mixed results, however, and wonder if this announcement came just a bit too early. The App is indeed appearing in the Android Marketplace (where it was not appearing at all whatsoever in the past,) but does not appear on several of our non-Galaxy devices. This app is one you can use by connecting through Wifi to your brand new TV that accepts such a connection. You’ll be able to use your remote app’s on-screen QWERTY keyboard, control settings, and run Samsung Apps on your TV. A four-way directional pad is another control you can use,...

CyanogenMod 7 Gingerbread Now on Galaxy Tab

The day has come, after so much waiting. Oh you didn’t expect this day to ever come? Perhaps you expected the Samsung Galaxy Tab to remain in Android 2.2 mode forever? How would you like to turn on some Android 2.3.2 Gingerbread lights in your lovely little Tab? Lucky you, Technomancer of XDA Forums has posted a path to CyanogenMod 7 for Galaxy Tab bringing you all the tasty Gingerbread your heart could desire.  Most of the basic functions appear to be working on this build, and the developer(s) working on this project are making pretty frequent updates. Any help in continuing to develop this hack is appreciated, so says Technomancer. If you plan on attempting to make this version of CyanogenMod work on your Galaxy Tab, you do...

Angry Birds Valentines Expansion Called “Hogs and Kisses

If you’re a fan of Angry Birds, and you know we are when we’re not feeling cynical, you’re pretty pumped up about the oncoming expansion to be released on Valentine’s Day. Very little has been known about this project, which up until this moment has been called “Pink.” What we know now, thanks to out best buddy Ina Fried, is that this Angry Birds expansion is called “Hogs and Kisses,” comes in HD for iPad (and hopefully something similar for Honeycomb,) as well as its standard Android and iPhone/iPod Touch versions, and apparently it’ll be out sooner than expected – next week soon!We DID think it was a bit strange to release a holiday themed expansion for a game the day of the holiday – the feeling of warmth in your heart would only...

HTC Inspire 4G Presale at Radio Shack

Radio Shack has announced that today they’ll be offering the HTC Inspire 4G for preorder. This phone will cost $99 attached to a 2 year agreement, and those who take the bait for this offer will also be granted a $30 credit toward accessories for the phone. What will that buy? Maybe a cloth to wipe off fingerprints? Perhaps a new microSD card with 2GB of spac...

AT&T Still Doesn’t Like Sideloading: Will Not Be Possible on HTC Inspire

The above picture, captured by Android Central, confirms our suspicions: Much as with the Motorola Backflip and several of their other Android offerings, AT&T is not allowing the installing of non-market apps. As those of you with Android phones are probably aware, there is usually an option on the above screen that has the choice to “Allow installation of non-Market applications.” As you can see, this choice is not given on the HTC Inspire. Thankfully, there are other options available to those who are looking to sideload apps. We’re not surprised, but we’re sad to see that AT&T hasn’t reconsidered the limitations they’re putting on their users.READ MORE.... FOLLOW US ON TWITTER   JOIN US ON FACEBO...
