Motorola Droid Bionic Is Yet Another Device To Receive Ice Cream Sandwich Port

Yes, just about every device under the sun that has been graced with root most likely has someone attempting to port an Ice Cream Sandwich build to it. Whether beta, alpha or pre-alpha alpha. The Motorola Droid Bionic is no different. Even though Motorola officially announced the device would see an upgrade to Android 4.0 in the coming months, some users may not want to wait that long and who could blame you?
Thankfully, those tireless Android dev’ers have been hard at work getting Ice Cream Sandwich ported to the Bionic in the form of an early alpha release. Based off of CM9, pretty much everything is working smooth and swiftly — well, aside from 3G/4G data but who uses data on Verizon anyway? (Rimshot) Curious to try it out or keep up on the progress of the ROM, hit up DroidForums to see it for yourself.

Motorola DROID RAZR Fastboot Files Leaked – Lets Flashers Return To Stock Software

Good news for Motorola Droid Razr owners looking to hack/mod/tinker around with their device! The stock fastboot files — required to restore your device to its original stock state — has been leaked and made available for installation. The 6.11.744 fastboot files were leaked by a member of XDA and may users are already reporting successful flashes.
This should send development into high gear for the Razr with developers and users being able to flash with reckless abandon thanks to this new safety net to fall back on. Even those who may have been wary of rooting their phone in the event they needed to sell or send back their phone to the manufacturer for repairs no longer have anything to hold them back.

HTC Makes All Handsets Released Since September 2011 Unlockable

It turns out the HTC Rezound wasn’t an anomly when it was discovered that HTC’s official bootloader unlock tool worked with little effort. HTC has updated the page to announce that all handsets released since September of this year are now unlockable via the method provided at HTCDev.com.
“All HTC Android devices launched after September 2011 are unlockable. The website will be updated accordingly to reflect this in the coming weeks. We continue to work on models launched prior to September 2011, please check back often for the status of older devices.”

Best Buy Advertises Motorola Droid 4 on Rewards Zone Site

Verizon put the Motorola Droid 4 on ice, but remnants of the advertising campaign that would have been continue to pop up. The latest is the inclusion of a rather final looking press image of the handset at the front of a recent Best Buy Reward Zone flyer. Alas, the Droid 4 won’t be earning you 5,000 points any time soon.

MOTOACTV App Hacked to Work with Non-Motrola Devices

When we first met the MOTOACTV, a friendly Motorola rep informed us that the application that allows the fitness tracking device to receive notifications from your cell phone — things like text message alerts and incoming calls — would be available for any Android device, regardless of make or model. When we received our own MOTOACTV we were disappointed to find this not to be the case. Leave it to the Android dev community to remedy the problem, as a hacked version of the app has come online for installation on any Android phone. It provides the exact same functionality as the official app but supports a far wider range of handsets. Head over to the XDA link below for more details.

Krispy Kreme App for Android Helps You Get ‘Em While They’re Hot

A Krispy Kreme doughnut is best enjoyed while the sugary glaze coating the ring of deliciousness is still warm. If only there was some way to know exactly when the latest batch of gooey goodness is fresh from the oven. Wait, there is. It’s all thanks to the newly deployed Hot Light app for Android. The app locates the Krispy Kreme nearest you and alerts you when the “Hot Now” neon sign is alight, letting those near and far know that fresh doughnuts are rolling across the conveyors.

Though Unlisted, HTC Rezound Unlockable via HTCDev Tools

You won’t find it listed among the likes of the T-Mobile myTouch 4G and HTC View 4G, but the tools available via HTCDev.com are apparently capable of unlocking the bootloader of the HTC Rezound as well. It’s as easy as heading over to the site and following the same instructions that unlock any other listed HTC device.
Since there has been no official mention of the Rezound chances are HTC did not intentionally provide these capabilities. In the event that the manufacturer decides to remove support for the Beats Audio handset, those wishing to forego the bootloader by official means should act quickly.

HTCDev.com Adds Unlock Support for T-Mobile MyTouch 4G Slide, HTC EVO View 4G

Those of you who aren’t keen on using community-developed tools to unlock their HTC devices’ bootloaders have been graced with a great program by HTC. They officially allow you to unlock your bootloader in a safe way, though it may void your warranty as they will know which phones have been unlocked through their tool.
Two new devices join the party today as T-Mobile’s MyTouch 4G Slide and the HTC EVO View 4G (Sprint’s version of the HTC Flyer) are now able to be unlocked. Be sure you know the risks of unlocking your bootloader and it would help if you had a good idea of why you want to unlock it before you go ahead and do that. Head to HTCDev.com to get started. Android Open Kang Project hits Milestone 1 for Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus

There are a few ROMs and kernels out there for Verizon’s Galaxy Nexus already, but the one that clearly stood apart from the rest was AOKP by Roman of RootzWiki. Thus far, his build has been the most stable and speedy while still having all the bells and whistles. Through a ROM Control quicklink within the settings, rooted users can customize their phone with ease and reliability; no need to boot into recovery. And most importantly, this ROM has just reached its first “Milestone”. A milestone release aims at fixing all the current bugs, and offers an option for users that don’t feel like flashing another .ZIP through ClockworkMod every other day.

I have been using Roman’s AOKP build for a couple days now, and his latest release has scored me 9 hours and 18 minutes with 54% battery life to spare. With the poor network signal I get in my area – this is a vast improvement. Also new in this release is the ability to finally sync Facebook contacts. This feature isn’t currently available in the stock version, but could be in the next release. Also added were a few much needed modifications to the auto-brightness.

Though it was previously available in an earlier release, a Search navigation menu icon is also available to toggle in ROM Control – as is the Voice Search option when longpressed. It does clutter up the bottom once you’re used to the three menu buttons, but also adds back a much used feature by many making it an essential option. What features do you wish the Galaxy Nexus shipped with? Without Facebook sync it would have been monotonous entering in all of my contacts, so rooting was essential.
