Microsoft Acquires Swiftkey for $250 Million

Microsoft confirms the Swiftkey acquisition but price is not out in public. Through some sources and reports on all around the web the Microsoft acquires Swiftkey for $250 million.

 

“In this cloud-first, mobile-first world, SwiftKey’s technology aligns with our vision for more personal computing experiences that anticipate our needs versus responding to our commands, and directly supports our ambition to reinvent productivity by leveraging the intelligent cloud,” Harry Shum, EVP of technology and research, said in a blog post

Earlier SwiftKey announced a $17.5 million funding round in 2013. Investors include Accel Partners, Index Ventures, and Octopus Investments. The company started in 2008 and had offices in London, San Francisco, and Seoul. For a reminder SwiftKey is installed on 300 million mobile devices, and it supports 89 languages, according to the company’s website. OnePlus, Samsung, and Xiaomi have partnered with SwiftKey in the past.

Samsung confirms Galaxy S7 edge on their Official developer Website

As we all know that Samsung is gearing up for the launch of The Next Galaxy device on 21st February. We have little doubt on which device is going to launch and what will be its name but now all things are clear it will be Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. Although their many rumors and leaks all around the web but names are not out earlier Officially.

Whatsapp hits One Billion Active Users; Gmail also on the same peak

Here’s one more milestone for Whatsapp as they have touched one Billion active users. Whatsapp’s success story is not one day’s show they have consequently touched 200 Million, 700 Million and 900 Million subscribers.

Facebook’s WhatsApp messenger and Google’s Gmail have both crossed the 1 billion monthly active user milestone, meaning that one-seventh of the world’s population now uses them both. Whatsapp today posted on their blog that they have touched the 100 Billion Active users.

On the occasion Whatsapp said, “We are proud of this milestone, and we’re humbled by the extraordinary ways all of you have used WhatsApp. Whether it’s sharing vital information during natural disasters or health emergencies, finding a date, growing a small business, buying an engagement ring, or seeking a better life – we’re honored to be a small part of what people are doing to make their lives and the lives of those around them better.”

Last month, Whatsapp also suspended its renewal fee of $1. It does not means that Whatsapp is not earning they are earning and they are planning to monetize the Whatsapp in new way. As per the reports it seems that Whatsapp is testing tools that will allow users to use the service to communicate with businesses and organizations. Also, some Facebook integration is also coming soon as per reports.

On the other hand Alphabet Inc has also revealed that Gmail has also crossed 1 Billion active users. It’s a coincidence or something else but these stats are quite good.

Google Taking Apple Like Approach on Nexus Line

As per the report from the Information, it is said that Google is going to take Apple like approach on its Nexus lineup. Google has always given elite experience to the users of Nexus devices. This new report helps to visualise some upcoming policies from the Google side.

Xiaomi and Meizu Rolls to the United States Via US Mobile

Xiaomi and Meizu are finally ported to the United States with some of its high end devices at low prices via U.S Mobile. The cellular company which runs over the T-Mobile is the first one to rollout Xiaomi and Meizu devices to U.S.

Company has brought total of four devices from both companies at the prices from $120 to $220. Naming those devices: Meizu M2 Note, Xiaomi Redmi 2, Mi 3 and Mi 4i.

Ahmed Khattak, founder and CEO of US Mobile told PCMag:

“U.S. consumers have traditionally had to compromise to afford incredible devices. Now, with the launch of our marketplace, we are thrilled to offer complete range of exceptional smartphones for low monthly payments and to give our customers access to exceptional phones otherwise not available in the U.S.”

Further, U.S. Mobile has said that they will checkout more devices if they match with U.S. network bands from both the companies. So we expect some Xiaomi magic in the stateside.

Recently Xiaomi has ranked as largest smartphone manufacturer in China for the year of 2015. We hope this partnership will contribute to Xiaomi’s global sales.

Samsung Teases Galaxy S7 to launch on February 21 day before MWC 2016

Samsung’s press conference is scheduled for February 21 a day before MWC 2016 in Barcelona. So it is the date for the unveiling of the New flagship of the company Galaxy S7. Earlier last Samsung follows same strategy for teasing its flagship device Galaxy S6 in 2015.

Even in the Teaser clip Company clears that it will be The Next Galaxy flagship device which is to be unveiled a day before MWC 2016. Samsung has not clearly said that it will announce Galaxy S7 at Unpacked event which takes place on February 21, it is quite obvious that it is “The Next Galaxy”. What we do not know is whether there will also be other models being unveiled, like a Galaxy S7 edge or Galaxy S7 edge Plus.

Samsung press event will start on Sunday, February 21 (19:00 CET) in Barcelona, just a day before MWC 2016 officially kicks off.

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Hits Certification Agency in China

Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge, amid of lot of rumors and leaks has got into the China’s FCC, known as the Chinese 3C certification. As per the documents revealed by GizmoChina, both  the handsets are Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge.

Also there’s third device that got listed into the document of Galaxy S7 variants. Those three variant’s model number is SM-G9300 which is presumably the unlocked version, while the S7 (SM-G9308) is likely to be the carrier variant. Meanwhile, the Galaxy S7 edge (SM-G9350) has also been given in the list.

As all the three devices are passed from the 3C certification. We hope it will soon hit the TENAA where more information will get surfaced about the devices.

In December, we got to know about the launch in march but new reports and today’s certification hints its launch on February 21st Unpacked event.
