Google has rolled out an update to Gmail for Android with Exchange accounts Support. “Now, whether you’re on Google Apps or Exchange, you can use the Gmail app on any Android device to send and receive mail,” Google said of the update, which should be available now but may take a few days to automatically update on all Android smartphones.
Gmail will also be able to support Exchange-based calendars. Gmail has long supported the IMAP and POP email protocols, including Microsoft’s Outlook and Hotmail services. Google added Exchange to Gmail back in November 2014, but only Nexus handsets running Lollipop had access to the feature.
For those unfamiliar, Microsoft’s Exchange is a type of email server that remains a popular choice for businesses.
Now, users can include or use exchange via Gmail App, rather than using any other app.
