Four Samsung devices receive Google's ARCore Certification

Samsung has been on a roll with device launches recently. It launched various devices under its A series along with a few tablets. Some of these devices carried powerful enough hardware for ARCore. However, they were not certified for ARCore at the time of launch, and hence their potential was limited. Users couldn't benefit from the AR Capabilities that their new Galaxy device possessed. This is about to change as 4 new Samsung devices have received an update enabling ARCore. These four devices are- Galaxy A22 5G, Galaxy A72, Galaxy Quantum 2, and Galaxy Tab S7 FE.

What is ARCore?

To recall, AR stands for Augmented Reality. It allows users to use physical objects in a virtual world thus giving the feeling of mixed reality. It does this by using a combination of camera, motion sensors, etc. ARCore is Google's software development kit that allows for augmented reality applications to be built. It provides developers with various APIs that help them to develop AR-related features.

The ARCore certification is given after testing and checking whether the device meets the hardware and software requirements for a smooth experience. In the testing, the device's camera, processor, and its working with the sensors, and their calibration is checked. This isn't the first time that an Android device is receiving ARCore certification after launch. For example, the OnePlus 9 Pro recently received support for ARCore.

As mentioned earlier, the Galaxy A22 5G, Galaxy A72, Galaxy Quantum 2, and Galaxy Tab S7 FE have officially received the ARCore certification. Look out for an update to enable ARCore on the aforementioned devices. With ARCore coming to these Samsung devices, they'll become compatible with a wide range of AR-related applications and games that are already available on the Play Store. Do let us know what you think about ARCore support for Samsung devices in the comments section.

Motorola Capri with model number XT-2127-4 clears FCC

Multiple variants of the upcoming Motorola Capri smartphone have appeared on FCC over the past few weeks. In case if you missed it, a Motorola Capri smartphone bearing the model number XT-2127-2 hit FCC over a week ago and was immediately followed by its Plus variant (XT-2129). Now, another variant with almost the same model number of that of the standard Capri cleared FCC. To be precise, the Capri model number listed on FCC now is XT-2127-4.

Must SeeMotorola launches Moto G 5G Plus, the cheapest 5G smartphone in the UK and Europe

We don’t expect a drastic difference between the two models; XT-2127-2 and XT-2127-4 of the Motorola Capri Series. As per some previous reports and rumours, the Moto Capri could boast Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 Mobile Platform coupled with 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. Highly likely, it should feature a dewdrop display notch which could come with support for 720 x 1600 pixels resolution.

While we don’t have the exact capacity of the XT-2172-4 mentioned in the FCC database, there is a mention of the battery which revealed the model name to be MH60 and we can expect the capacity not more than 4,500mAH. Well, unlike the Plus variant both the XT-2127-2 and XT-2127-4 doesn’t support 5G.

Quad-Camera and No 5G Support

In terms of camera, we can expect a quad-camera module on the rear side led by a 48MP primary sensor. An 8MP ultrawide lens, a 2MP macro lens and a 2MP depth sensor combo can be the rest of the sensors. There might be an 8MP front camera on the Motorola Capri.  On the other hand, the Motorola Capri Plus(XT-2129) with 5G support could come with a 64MP primary camera, a 13MP superwide lens, a 2MP macro lens, and a 2MP depth sensor. There would a two storage options of 4/6GB and 64/128GB storage.

Seems Motorola Capri can make its official entry anytime soon. We’ll be getting more info on the Series in coming days. So keep a close watch on this space to know more about the upcoming Moto device, if any in the future.
