WhatsApp group admins can soon delete messages for all users

In its quest to enhance the overall experience for the users, Whatsapp constantly tests interesting features to popularize the instant messenger app. On that note, it seems the Facebook-owned company is now experimenting with a new feature that provides extra control to group admins. Such that, the Group Admins could delete messages for any user in the group.

However, there is no official confirmation from the company yet. Though it is expected to arrive in the upcoming beta versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS. According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on a feature that will allow group admins to delete messages sent by any group member.

WABetaInfo has shared a post attached with a screenshot that shows a deleted message in a WhatsApp chat. There's a placeholder message that states “This was deleted by an admin, WABetaInfo.” In addition, the group members will be informed about the same.

However, we are not sure if group admins can delete older messages in a group. For the record, one can delete his own message within 1 hour 8 minutes, and 16 seconds. Regardless, the limit might be expanded for group admins, allowing them to delete older messages. But again, WhatsApp has not officially confirmed this feature.

To mention, Telegram has a similar feature that allows group admins to delete messages from any user. But, it does not display a placeholder message.
