Gmail for web adopts a fresh organized redesign

Before the launch of Android 12, Google started providing a new look to its stock apps. Even the non-Android platforms were refreshed. Following the steps, Gmail for Web is getting redesigned with a more organized look. This new ‘integrated view’ style seems to take cues from the latest OS.

The web version of Gmail has been the same for a while. But Google finally decided to tweak it by giving some cosmetic and functional changes. The primary difference you can see is that the color scheme has changed. The compose button and accented elements which were red before are now blue.

In addition, the inbox will now display more rounded corners. Also, you will see a pill-shaped indicator while selecting a conversation. Moreover, the update will compress the conversations on the left side of the window. If you notice, the changes are Material You centered that intend to make the view clearer.

With the new design, you will see chats on the left side of the inboxes as small buttons. These buttons will open up as chat bubbles when clicked. Presently, as the chats are housed on the left side, they can get cluttered if there are many.

The feature is not available currently. Google is expected to roll out the update on February 8th. Once the version arrives, you’ll be prompted to see the redesign. Also, you can always switch back to the classic view in case you don't like the update.

WhatsApp can roll out message reactions feature soon

A few months ago, WhatsApp was spotted testing an iMessage-like message reactions feature. It seems that the feature has started developing and it could roll out sooner than we expect.

As per Wabetainfo, the future WhatsApp Beta update for Android and iOS can carry the message reactions feature. Also, this reaction will be secured by end-to-end encryption. The feature is all like we have on Instagram and Facebook. A bunch of emojis will be available to choose from for reaction.

To mention, taping on the message will show you a handful of emojis that you can send. However, initially, WhatsApp will roll out limited emojis, but the options will go up with time. Anyway, be it personal inbox or group chats, every user will be able to view a panel listing some of the limited emoji while tapping onto the message. Here is how it will look, as shared by Wabetainfo:

As mentioned, the message reactions will be secure and end-to-end encrypted. This implies that nobody outside the chat can see your reactions. In addition, “Messages can have an infinite number of reactions, but if you have more than 999 reactions, you will read “999+," says the report.

Android 12 update packed with bugs for Galaxy S10 users

Last month, Samsung released the Android 12 based One UI 4.0 program for the Galaxy S10. Needless to say, the package arrives with a bunch of features and improvements. However, some bugs seem to have skipped the beta stages and now are a part of the software. The users have started to complain about the glitches on various community platforms.

The Galaxy S10 users obviously anticipated that their device will boost up once they upgrade to Android 12 One UI 4.0. Unfortunately, they got disappointed with the glitches and lags present in the package. The complaints were all over on community platforms. Let's take a look at what users have to say.

To start with, the expanded quick settings panel shows fewer buttons with two rows after enabling multi-SIM info. Additionally, the notification shade has some blank space that could be easily moved. For some users, there are three rows only when the device care button was enabled.

On the bright side, after analyzing the criticisms, we concluded that not all Galaxy S10 users are facing these issues. The software bugs some random users without any particular pattern.

Anyway, there are no official words from Samsung yet. But we do hope that the company will address these issues and fix them with future developments.

Android Auto squashes the Android 12 notification bug

Android 12 is indeed a major overhaul Google introduced in years. The OS brings a ton of features with a new UI and much more. Unfortunately, some bugs seem to have skipped the process. Anyway, the company is trying to fix them up, including the annoying notification bug for Android Auto users.

An Android 12 bug prevented the Android Auto users to receive incoming SMSes and Facebook Messenger notifications. After a month of complaints, the issue is finally resolved via the latest build of Android Auto, as announced by a company's team member. The new update is rolling out. However, the app's version number which hammers the bug is not mentioned by Google.

In addition, Android Auto users have to make sure that their Messages app is running on the latest version. In case updating at both ends doesn't help, there's no choice but to wait for a newer build to roll out. This lag is affecting all users who have updated their device to Android 12, including Pixel and Galaxy models.

In addition, some infuriated users also tried some common methods to ignore the glitch like reconnecting the device, changing the cable, and adjusting Android Auto settings. However, the efforts went in vain. Although, restarting the device worked temporarily. But in the end, the bug finds its way back.

The bug is aggravating as the fundamental purpose of Android Auto is to inform about the device's notifications while driving.
