ColorOS 12 beta update goes official for Oppo F17 and Oppo A73

Recently, Oppo unveiled the ColorOS 12 update timeline for Q2 2022. Adhering to its schedule, the company is releasing the Android 12 based ColorOS 12 beta update for Oppo F17 and Oppo A73.

The announcement was made through an official post on the Oppo community. According to the statement, the Android 12 based ColorOS 12 beta is available in Vietnam and India for the Oppo F17 and Oppo A73.

Interested users can register themselves from April 11 to April 15. Although, the company is recruiting only 5,000 testers for the handsets in each region. Therefore, the user needs to make sure to register as soon as possible in order to be a first batch candidate.


However, before registering, make sure that your respective smartphone operates the basic version C.19. Afterwards, follow the below step for registration:

  1. Head to Settings > Software Update

  2. Click on the Gear Icon at the top right corner

  3. Tap on Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version

  4. Follow the on-screen instructions and submit to enroll in the Android 12 beta initiative.


The beta software will reach out to the selected applicants within 3 working days. In case the OTA does not arrive on your device, wait for the next round of recruitment (if there’s any).

Lastly, before updating to the beta version, take a backup of your important files to avoid data loss. Additionally, the beta build could carry a lot of bugs like overheating and lagging.

Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Note launched in China alongside Vivo Pad

At the Vivo event in China, the company unveiled three new smart devices, including Vivo X Fold, Vivo X Note, and Vivo Pad. With this, we can now officially say that Vivo has entered the foldable smartphone category. Let's take a detailed look at the latest Vivo devices.

Vivo X Fold Specifications 


The Vivo X Fold is built around an 8.03-inch AMOLED screen featuring a punch-hole display. The panel offers a 120Hz refresh rate, a 4:3.5 aspect ratio, and a 2K resolution. In addition, it has an aerospace-grade wing hinge for a smooth and durable folding mechanism. A 4,600 mAh battery keeps the screen lightened up with 66W wired fast charging and 50W wireless charging support.

If unfolded, Vivo X Fold is curved slightly on the right side with a punch-hole display. The phone flaunts a 6.53-inch AMOLED display with a 21:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, it fuels Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, while Android 12 operates the device along with Origin OS Ocean on top.

In optics, the Vivo foldable carry a 16MP front-facing camera. On the other side, there's a quad-camera setup led by a 50MP primary sensor. The other lenses include a 48MP ultra-wide unit, a 12MP portrait snapper, and an 8MP periscope shooter.

Vivo X Fold is available in Black, Blue, and Grey colorways. The base model (12GB RAM/ 256GB) of the phone is priced at ¥8,999, while the upper model (12GB RAM/ 512GB) costs ¥9,999.

The Vivo X Note also features a punch-hole cutout with a 7.0-inch 2K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The device is identical to the Vivo X Fold in terms of processor, operating system, and camera. Although, it packs a 5,000 mAh battery that supports 80W fast charging and 50W wireless charging.

Vivo X Note arrives in Blue, Black, and Grey color options. For the 8GB + 256GB variant, the device costs ¥5999, while the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB models are worth ¥6,499 and ¥6999 respectively.

The latest Vivo tablet sports an 11-inch 2.5K display with thin bezels around. It supports a 120Hz refresh rate, Vivo’s Pencil smart stylus, and a keyboard. For software, unfortunately, it comes preinstalled with Android 11 based Origin OS. Underneath, a Snapdragon 870 processor powers the pad.

In the camera department, there's a dual-rear camera consisting of a 13MP main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide lens. At the front, an 8MP front camera serves selfies and video calls. Furthermore, the pad packs a massive 8,040 mAh battery with 44W fast charging support.

Four mysterious smartphones by Google bags FCC Certification

It seems like Google is working to introduce a set of new smartphones in the market. Recently, four mysterious smartphones by the company made an appearance on the FCC Certification website. Well, it could be a part of the Pixel 7 series or some new addition to the Pixel 6 lineup, but we never know!

Unfortunately, the name of these listed smartphones remains unknown. However, the model numbers GX7AS, GB17, G1AZG, and GB62Z were revealed by that website. Talking about the Google GX7AS, the device was also spotted on the BIS certification, confirming its Indian launch.

According to the FCC listing, the set of Google smartphones will have 5G, LTE, NFC, Wi-Fi 6E, dual-band Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth connectivity enabled. Apart from that, there's nothing we could gather from the portal.

As mentioned earlier, the smartphones could be a part of the Pixel 7 series or Pixel 6a. In that case, the smartphones are tipped to power Google’s in-house Tensor chipset.

To recall, the Google Pixel 6a (GX7AS) was spotted on the Geekbench last month with  Android 12 OS out of the box paired with 6 GB RAM onboard. In addition, it will be a downgraded version of the Pixel 6 handset launched last year.

On the other hand, the other devices could be possible Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel 7a. The vanilla Pixel 7 is tipped to feature a 6.2 inch OLED display with a 5,000 mAh battery underneath, while the Pro model is said to sport a bigger 6.8-inch curved OLED panel.

  • [April 12, 2022]: The Galaxy A53 5G is getting the April 2022 security patch update in South Korea and India. For the home country, the build arrives on the A536NKSU1AVCC version, while it carries the A536EXXU1AVCD number in India.


As usual, the OTA update is having a staged rollout. You can either wait for a pop-up notification or check it manually. To give it a self-check, head over to the Settings app > Software update and tap on Download and install. Also, we suggest you switch over to a WiFi network before downloading the update to avoid data charges.

Oppo's Official ColorOS 12 update timeline for Q2 2022 (April, May, June)

Oppo always intends to prepare a roadmap first before the deployment of major software. On that note, the company has prepared the rollout schedule of ColorOS 12 in Q2 2022. In the second week of the month, Oppo officially announced a list of smartphones that will get the ColorOS 12 update in April, May, and June. The list includes the rollout of both stable and public beta versions.

OnePlus 8 series receives a new software update based on ColorOS 12

OnePlus is releasing a new update for the OnePlus 8 series, including the T-Mobile variant— OnePlus 8OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T. The update for all the models is unfurling via different versions based on OxygenOS 12.

For the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, the latest software is bundled with version number ColorOS 12 C.14. Whereas, for the OnePlus 8T, it arrives on version ColorOS 12 C.21. Despite different build numbers, the changelog for the respective smartphones remains identical.

Concerning changes, the package addresses a few issues related to the system and camera app. In addition, the charging speed of the devices is now optimized. Moreover, OnePlus claims that after flashing this build, your device will run more stably. Check out the official changelog below.

Oppo F21 Pro with Snapdragon 680 launched in Bangladesh for Tk27990

Ahead of the scheduled launch in India, Oppo F21 Pro went official in Bangladesh today. This is a mid-range device by the company under the F-series flagship. In fact, we can say it is a rebrand of Oppo Reno 7 that was launched last month. Let's take a closer look at the latest Oppo smartphone.

The Oppo F21 Pro is built around a 6.43-inch AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution of 1,080 x 2,400 pixels. The panel offers a 90Hz refresh rate and a 180Hz touch sampling rate. It measures 156.9 x 73.2 x 7.5mm in dimensions and weighs 175 grams.

Under the hood, a Snapdragon 680 SoC powers the Oppo F21 Pro under the hood paired with 8GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. For software, it boosts Android 12 out of the box along with ColorOS 12.1 on top.

At the front, the Oppo F21 Pro houses a 32 MP camera that serves selfies and video calls. On the rear panel, the phone carries a triple camera module consisting of a 64 MP primary lens, a 2 MP microscope camera, and a 2 MP monochrome unit.

In addition, a 4,500 mAh battery keeps the system working with a 33W SuperVOOC charging support over a USB Type-C port. The connectivity options include dual-SIM (Nano), 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth v5.1, 3.5 mm headphone jack, and a microSD card slot. The sensors onboard are the proximity sensor, optical sensor, accelerometer, gravity sensor, gyroscope, pedometer, geomagnetic sensor, and fingerprint sensor.

Oppo F21 Pro is available for pre-order and will go on sale from April 18. The phone arrives in Cosmic Black and Sunset Orange color options that cost Tk27990 (~ ₹24,640). The pricing details for India will be announced tomorrow i.e April 12.

  • [April 11, 2022]: Samsung Galaxy M32 is -now getting the latest operating system on firmware version M325FXXU4ZVD2. Along with Android 12, there's a layer of One UI 4.0 on top. In addition, the package increases safety by integrating the April 2022 security patch.

Xiaomi Mi Note 10T Lite upgrades to Android 12 OS with MIUI 13

Xiaomi is kicking off its Android 12 based MIUI 13 skin iteration for eligible devices since January. The software has been deployed to most of the eligible premium and mid-range offerings. The latest smartphone to get the refreshed version of mobile software is Xiaomi Mi Note 10T Lite.

The latest software is rolling out to the global and European units of Mi 10 Lite, while other markets are expected to get the package in the next few weeks. Also, it is currently limited to the Mi Pilot testers via firmware version V13.0.1.0.SJSMIXM and V13.0.2.0.SJSEUXM respectively.

Concerning changes, the package carries all new features of Android 12 tossed with the modifications of MIUI 13. The changelog further mentions that the apps can now open as floating windows directly from the sidebar. In addition, it enhances privacy by integrating the March 2022 security patch.
