Android Auto 7.6 update is rolling out with minor improvements

Google is consistent in updating Android Auto with new features and tweaks. However, it’s been a couple of years since the platform got a major overhaul. Well, Google has started working on the next build codenamed “Coolwalk.” While we still await the new interface, a new update is rolling out labeled Android Auto 7.6.

Android Auto 7.6 arrived a month after the Android Auto 7.5 update. Although the new version started rolling out last week, but the wider rollout to all users was initiated this week. As far as modifications are concerned, the build number signifies that this is a minor upgrade. A major bump will be considered in versions like 8.0, whereas, versions like 0.1 are on the minor side.

Unfortunately, Android Auto 7.6 does not deliver the next redesign we expect from the “Coolwalk” update. However, it does bring minor bug fixes related to apps like Google Assistant, and other shares of the Android Auto experience. Precisely, glitches with voice call routing to the wrong device and “something went wrong” response has been taken care of.

In addition, the new build is likely to pack the smart replies feature that was available for beta users last week. FYI, this feature will read aloud the message when you tap on the notification. Thereafter, one or two short responses are provided as suggestions to reply. Also, there's a button at the top right, clicking on which will prompt you to speak your message and send a custom reply.



The Android Auto app on your phone might have been automatically updated in the background. If not, you can head to the Play Store and check for updates manually.

OnePlus Nord 2T 5G gets NBTC certification, launch approaching

OnePlus is working to expand its Nord lineup. Recently, the company unveiled the Nord CE 2 and the Nord CE 2 Lite. Now, the Nord 2T 5G is expected to debut in the coming weeks. Ahead of the launch, the device has arrived on the NBTC certification website.

The NBTC certification database confirms the model number CPH2399 for the Nord 2T. The smartphone is expected to be a minor upgrade over the OnePlus Nord 2. To recall, the same model was also spotted on multiple certifications, revealing some of the key details. Here is what we know about the handset so far.

At the front, the device will feature a 6.43-inch Full HD+ fluid AMOLED display. The panel will offer a 90Hz refresh rate and a punch-hole cutout at the top left corner. Underneath, an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 1300 processor powers the device integrated with Mali G77 GPU.

On the software front, the OnePlus Nord 2T will come pre-installed with Android 12 based on OxygenOS 12. A 4,500 mAh battery will keep the system working with an 80W fast charging support.

In addition, we know the camera specifications of the OnePlus Nord 2T, thanks to the Camera FV5 website. The smartphone is listed to carry a 50 MP primary camera. Accompanying this will be an 8MP ultrawide lens and a 2MP auxiliary sensor. On the other side, a 32 MP snapper will serve selfies and video chats.

Google Pixel smartphones upgrades to May 2022 Security Patch

Google is always on time when it comes to security updates. On the first Monday of each month, the company upgrades its devices to the latest security maintenance. In the latest news, the tech giant has released the May 2022 Android security patch update for the supported Pixels smartphones. Scroll to the end of the article to know what the build packs.

As always, the May 2022 security patch does not bring any visible or significant changes. However, it does address a bunch of bugs and security issues present in the current version. Talking about the compatible phones, it covers Pixel 3a, Pixel 3a XL, Pixel 4, Pixel 4 XL, Pixel 4a, Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, and Pixel 6 Pro.

Concerning changes, the update for the Pixel smartphones resolves a handful of high and moderate severity vulnerabilities and two severe security flaws. Most importantly, it identifies the code CVE-2022-0847 known as Dirty Pipe. FYI, it is an exposure of the Linux kernel which can provide an attacker complete control of your device. All these modifications are a part of the SP2A.220505.002 build number.

Vivo S15 Pro & Vivo S15e arrives on TENAA, key specifications revealed

Vivo is said to be working on two new smartphones: Vivo S15 Pro and Vivo S15e. Ahead of their launch, the devices have made an appearance on the TENAA certification website. The portal discloses some key details about the upcoming handsets. However, any official words from the company are still awaited.

Reportedly, a Vivo phone with model numbers V2203A and V2207A was spotted on the TENAA website. This could be a possible Vivo S15 Pro and Vivo S15e, respectively. In that case, the database reveals some specifications, including display, battery, operating system, and more.

The Vivo S15 Pro will feature a 6.56-inch display measuring 161.09 x 74.31 x 7.99 in dimensions. The panel will be lightened up by a 4,400mAh battery that supports 66W fast charging. In addition, a MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC is likely to fuel the device under the hood.



On the other hand, the Vivo S15e will carry the same panel with an OLED display and a 120Hz refresh rate. It will measure 158.9 x 73.52 x 8.55 in dimensions. For optics, the phone will carry a 64MP camera lens on the rear side. Under the hood, it will power Snapdragon 870 SoC. It will pack a 4,500mAh dual-cell battery with an 80W fast charging support.

OnePlus 8 series gets another software update based on ColorOS 12.1

OnePlus is releasing a new update for the OnePlus 8 series, including the T-Mobile variant— OnePlus 8, OnePlus 8 Pro, and OnePlus 8T. The update for all the models is unfurling via different versions based on OxygenOS 12.1.

For the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro, the latest software is bundled with version number ColorOS 12.1 C.21. Whereas, for the OnePlus 8T, it arrives on version ColorOS 12.1 C.26. Despite different build numbers, the changelog for the respective smartphones remains identical.

Google Chrome's toolbar for Android will soon get more personal!

Google has been very discreet and mindful about changing Chrome’s layout and options. Now, it seems that the company is ready to deliver such change for Android users. Reportedly, the tech giant intends to make your browser more personal and customizable.

Talking about personalization, precisely, Google will add a new customizable “toolbar shortcut” that will appear between the Omnibox and the tab counter. The button will show you one of the three actions: a new tab icon (plus sign), a share icon, or a voice search microphone.

The new tab and share options will be housed in the overflow menu, while the microphone will appear when tapping the address bar. Needless to say, once updates, the button you see will be based on your usage. In addition, Google will provide a “Current recommendation” option denoted by a sparkle icon. Clicking on this will automatically change the toolbar in case your usage has been changed lately.



Furthermore, the users can also turn off the toolbar addition entirely from Chrome settings or manually select what shortcut they want. Some users have tested this update, while a wider rollout is still pending. Though it is just a matter of time before the new toolbar starts rolling out to everyone.
