Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 is live for eligible Pixel smartphones

The Android 13 release was marked last month. However, the work is not yet complete. Now, Google has released the Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) Beta 1. For the unaware, the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 intends to resolve different bugs and small issues that come packed the OS. The build provides early access beta programmers with fixes and improvements.

The Android 13 QPR1 Beta 1 is available for eligible Pixel smartphones. This includes Pixel 4a,  Pixel 4a 5G, Pixel 5, Pixel 5a, Pixel 6, Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a. As this is a beta version, public access is prohibited. Although, the users can check out the issues that are taken care of.

Developer issues

• Fixed an issue for some devices that mistakenly caused a user’s emergency contact to be dialed from the lock screen when the device was in their pocket.

Other issues

• Fixed various issues for Pixel 6a devices that made it difficult for users to unlock their device or to set up Fingerprint Unlock.


• Fixed an issue that caused the system UI to crash in certain cases, such as gesturing from the edge of the screen to go back.


• Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the 5G icon to be displayed instead of the 5G UW icon, even when the affected device was already successfully connected to a 5G UW network.

If you own a beta-eligible Google Pixel smartphone, you can experience the changes before its official release. The users who were enrolled in the Android 13 beta will still be able to receive QPR updates. In another case, sign up by visiting the Android beta website. iQOO Z6 Lite 5G design and specs leaked ahead of September 14 launch

iQOO Z6 Lite 5G is all ready to make its debut in the Indian market as the most affordable 5G smartphone. The device is scheduled to launch on September 14. Ahead of that, we have some key details of the upcoming handset, including specifications and design. Here is what we know so far.

The iQOO Z6 Lite 5G will feature a 120Hz dynamic LCD screen with flat sides. The back of the phone is also flat with a giant dual camera island. The module is led by a 50MP primary camera. Under the hood, the handset will equip Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 SoC, making it the world’s first smartphone to do so. The chipset is likely to be paired with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. For software, it can run Android 12 out of the box along with a layer of Funtouch OS 12 on top.

Moreover, the company will ship the iQOO Z6 Lite 5G with a 5000 mAh battery that will support 18W fast charging. In addition, the Amazon microsite teaser image reveals the presence of a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm jack. The other features will include a 4-component cooling system, a temperature sensor, a cooling copper coil, a thermally conductive gel, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security.

Google Messages on web adds “System default” theme option

Google Messages on the web is quite basic compared to its Android app. It is pretty functional in nature without any extra features. Although it gets the essential work done. Well, it looks like the company has started to develop, starting with the dark theme mode. Check out the changes in detail.

Google has finally added the dark theme mode for the web Messages app but only when your system is running on the same. However, the choice has to be made via the vertical three dots “more” menu. Google Messages will not adopt the system theme automatically.

To change your app theme, visit the Settings section to see the new UI option for light and dark modes. The new update adds two options: System default and High contrast. The “System default” option allows the website to automate the process based on your OS settings. On the other hand, the High contrast option is there to enhance accessibility. The feature is meant for users who have difficulty differentiating elements on the screen due to their saturation.

With this, the company has moved one step forward to deliver a unified visual experience. We hope to see the “System default” option across all Google web apps in the future. Now, the company is preparing to unveil the next-gen laptop lineup: Samsung Galaxy Book 3 series. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will be the first “Ultra” model in the company's laptop lineup. It is likely to be the premium model in the series that will sit above the Pro model.

On the Bluetooth SIG certification, the laptop can be seen with four different model numbers. They include NT960XFH, NT961XFH, NT960XFS, and NT960XFHZ. All of these products are classified as “Notebook PC” in the description under the “Personal Computer” product category.

Further, the listing reveals some key details, including connectivity, operating system, and processor. The Galaxy Book 3 Ultra will come with Bluetooth 5.1 and Wi-Fi 6E connectivity options onboard. As for software, it will run Windows 11 on day one. In addition, it will draw power from Intel CPU under the hood. However, the exact processor details are not disclosed. But we expect it to equip an intel i7 processor.
