The only way to root a smartphone in 2022 is by using Magsik. Magisk came as an advanced version of a rooting smartphone. It came with many flexibilities that SuperSu didn't possess. It is a necessary software that runs even before booting. In June, Magisk's developer John Wu released the v25 as a public beta. It came with many changes, including a complete rewriting of MagiskInit. Magisk solved SELinux Problem after injecting a whole new sepolicy. Later, Magisk released the stable version of v25 after fixing some bugs as v25.1. John Wu also confirmed that he started the development of v26. He said it would be developed in the Oxidation Project (i.e., Rust programming language). Earlier today, Magisk received another Hotfix update. Magisk has fixed some core files in the Magisk v25.2 Hotfix update.

The latest Hotfix update will work in smartphones running on Android, starting from Android 5 to Android 13. The upcoming Magisk v26 can be seen in the Magisk canary before making its way to the stable. John Wu added that he struggled since Project Treble came in Android 8.0. The project treble has created trouble by creating more partitions. The hotfix update of Magisk v25.2 has fixed the following bugs;
- [MagiskInit] Fix a potential issue when stub cpio is used
- [MagiskInit] Fix reboot to recovery when stub cpio is used
- [General] Better data encryption detection
- [MagiskInit] Fix sepolicy.rules symlink for rootfs devices
- [General] Move the whole logging infrastructure into Rust
Magisk introduced Zygisk in v24 as Magisk in Zygote. It is the first process that starts when a phone is booted. It will help hide root Access from applications that start after boot up. The latest version is already up in the Github repository. Here are the download links for the same;
