Oppo Reno 9 design and specifications leaked ahead of launch

Oppo is said to be working to unveil the successor of the Reno 8 lineup: the Oppo Reno 9 series. The family will likely include three models: Reno 9, Reno 9 Pro, and Reno 9 Pro+. As always, the company did not announce anything officially yet. However, we expect it to debut later this year. On that note, the design and specs of the vanilla Reno 9 has managed to leak online.

According to the rumors, the Oppo Reno 9 will bear the model number PHM110. The leaks claim it to feature a 6.7 inches curved-edge OLED display. The panel can offer a 120Hz refresh rate and a Full HD+ resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels. Also, it can carry an under-display fingerprint scanner for security.

Under the hood, the smartphone will draw power from an octa-core processor based on Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC. The chipset will further be paired with 12 GB RAM. In addition, a 4,500 mAh battery is said to keep the system working with 67W fast charging support. If it's true, it will be a downgrade from the 80W fast charging on Reno 8.

In terms of optics, the upcoming Oppo Reno 9 is no different from its predecessor. That means it will house a 32MP camera at the front punch hole cutout. On the other side, it may carry a 64MP OmniVision OV64B central unit. Unfortunately, the capacity of the other lenses is still undercover.

On the software front, we can expect it to ship with Android 13 out of the box along with ColorOS 13 on top.

As of now, this is all we know about the Reno 9. The device will be an upper mid-range smartphone offering that can go official in November or December. Lastly, we expect the device to launch in other markets outside China as well, including India.
