Samsung Galaxy Note already on sale in the Netherlands

My Dutch is a little rusty, but according to Tablets Magazine, at least two online retailers in the Netherlands have already begun to sell the Samsung Galaxy Note to eager gadget enthusiasts. Phone Shop and 2Call already have the 5.3-inch device in stock at a wallet-shredding 597 Euros ($832 USD). As far as we can tell, this is the first time that the Galaxy Note has been on-sale to the public. The release bodes well for the rest of Europe, most of which uses the same GSM standard. If you live in Europe, have an extra 600 Euros and think you can figure out where the language setting is without getting lost, by all means pick up a Galaxy Note right away. Samsung makes changes to Galaxy smartphones to get around Dutch

Apple and Samsung are tied up in mortal patent combat and Apple has come out ahead in many instances in Europe and other places. Dutch courts ruled that Samsung smartphones did in fact infringe on one of Apple’s patents back in August. The violation was used to issue an injunction that kept Samsung Galaxy smartphones from being sold in the Netherlands after mid-month. The patent that could keep the Galaxy devices out of Dutch hands had to do with a patented method of scrolling and browsing through photos held by Apple. Samsung has been fighting the injunction and appears at least in the Netherlands to be ready to capitulate to Apple to gets its devices back into the country. Sales of Samsung Galaxy S, S II banned by Netherlands judge in Apple patent case

The Rechtbank 's-Gravenhage (a Dutch court in the city of The Hague) today issued a formally Europe-wide preliminary injunction against Samsung's Galaxy S, Galaxy S II and Ace smartphones -- but not the Galaxy tablets -- at Apple's request. The decision follows a hearing held on August 10 and 11, 2011.Let me clarify "formally Europe-wide" here: This relates to countries in which one particular European software patent (EP 2059868) is valid. (Formally it's a "device" patent, but it doesn't represent any innovation on the hardware side, so the nature of the invention is that of a software patent the way I define that term.)
