Must See: Nokia 5.4 grabs a new software update with June 2021 security patch.
What's New?
Regarding the changes, it is a significant update, and it includes several new features and improvements. Let's have a look at each and every feature.
'Required' filter option
- So far, the File Manager used to show all the folders of the root folder instead of separating them. Taking it into point, the company has now added the 'Required' filter option through which users can hide root folders and show some of the many folders in the internal memory Root (top location).
- The essential folders like DCIM, Download, Music, Pictures, etc., will be displayed automatically in the required filter mode. The other folders, including the Alarms, Audiobooks, Documents, Movies, Notifications, Podcasts, Ringtones, Recording, will not be displayed if they are empty. Moreover, the folders created/renamed/copied/moved by the user in the My Files app will always be displayed with the mandatory filter applied.
Navigation Rail Screen
- The update also introduces the Navigation Rail screen for the large-screen models like Galaxy Fold and tablets. This feature permits you to navigate quickly to Recents, Music, Downloads, Google Drive, etc.
- On the other hand, the company has also added the Standard Drawer screen, which expands the sticky elements in the Navigation Rail screen.
Run a file in multiple windows
From now, You can press and hold the file you want to run and select Open in New Window or Open in Another Window from the menu that appears. The above images show the target file launched in a window other than how the My Files app was launched.
Support for 'Favorites' backup restore (Backup & Restore)
The update also packs with the support for favorites Backup & Restore option. With this feature, users can back up & Restore their Favorites folder. The backup/restore of the items you set as your favorites are supported through Smart Switch so that you can keep the list of favorites from your old device, even on a new device.
Allow Copying and moving files within the same category
Samsung has added a new feature that allows users to copy and move the files within the same category. It's also worth noting that Copying and moving to categories is now possible only within the same category (e.g., image category A folder -> image category B folder).
