Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 flagship chip is under process, reportedly

Qualcomm recently released its latest flagship processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 chipset. And now, the new rumors suggest that the company is already working on its successor flagship. According to a Weibo tipster, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 could probably be under development at the time of writing this.

Further, the leakster reveals the release date of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. He suggests that it could ship as early as May 2022. The early arrival is to save time on the 4nm manufacturing node, mentions the leaks. Compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 arrives with a lot of improvements and extended capabilities. Some of the major OEM brands are already deploying the high-end processor in their upcoming premium smartphones.

Needles to say, the Snapdragon Gen 2 will surpass the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. But also, it is expected to outperform the MediaTek Dimensity 9000 processor as well. In fact, it is suspected that Qualcomm is developing the next chipset as a direct response to Dimensity 9000. Apparently, the OEM is occupied with producing the 8 Gen 2 chipset in volume, more than the Gen 1 to avoid the global chip crisis.

Although, there are also chances that this could be the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 batch ported to TSMC earlier. However, the leak emphasizes the ongoing competition between chipmakers. If the leaks stand true, Qualcomm's upcoming chipset would drop MediaTek down to approximately 4th big TSMC customer. Talking about the GTR 3 Pro, the new software can be identified by the 8.26.3.1 label number. Once the update is installed, you will get several new features including the GoPro mini-app which can be downloaded from the Zepp app store. The other changes include the addition of the screen lock function in the control center. This feature will make it easy for users to lock the watch to avoid any accidental touches. One UI 4.0 update for Galaxy S21 takes a break due to bugs

It's been a month since the Galaxy S21 series is running the One UI 4.0 package. However, even after passing through multiple beta stages, it seems that some bugs have skipped the process. The notice was published via Samsung Community Moderator according to which few users are reporting compatibility issues with Google Play. The suspended rollout in South Korea will not resume until Google and Samsung solve the issue.

Samsung Galaxy S21 FE could launch on January 11 next year

Samsung was supposed to launch the Galaxy S21 FE alongside the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and the Galaxy Z Fold 3. However, the technical issues made us wait for a long time. Fortunately, we may now have a precise launch date in our hands which is January 11 next year.

The news comes from a well-known leakster, Evan Blass who published some images of Galaxy S21 FE on Twitter. Looking at the pictures, we can see the date “Tue, January 11” on the phone’s lock screen. We assume that this could be the launch date as the device was tipped to go official in the second week of early 2022.

Further, we can also notice 5G and AT&T on the phone’s top bar. This indicates that the Galaxy S21 FE will offer 5G connectivity and be available in the US on the AT&T network. And of course, we can see some of the device’s stock wallpapers.

Xiaomi to launch Mi 12 series in China on December 28

The next-generation flagship by Xiaomi, Mi 12 series has been in the leaks for months now. Finally, the company has officially announced its launch on December 28 in the Chinese market. The series will consist of three smartphones— Xiaomi 12, Xiaomi 12X, and Xiaomi 12 Pro.

The Xiaomi 12 series have successfully passed through multiple certifications, confirming the key specifications of the devices. Additionally, the co-founder of Xiaomi, Lei Jun also mentioned that we will see the next-gen customized skin, MIUI 13 based on Android 12 alongside the Xiaomi 12 series.

Talking about the official specifications announced by the company, Xiaomi 12 will equip Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor under the hood. Whereas, the MI 12X will be the cheaper model drawing power from Snapdragon 870 SoC.
