Google Brings HTTPS to all Blogspot Blogs

Google today enables HTTPS to all the Blogspot blogs. Earlier in last September Google made HTTPS available as an option in the Blogspot account. But from today onwards encrypted connections (HTTPS) are enabled by default.

Bringing HTTPS to all blogspot domain blogs“We’re also adding a new setting called HTTPS Redirect that allows you to opt-in to redirect HTTP requests to HTTPS. While all blogspot blogs will have an HTTPS version enabled, if you turn on this new setting, all visitors will be redirected to the HTTPS version of your blog at https://<your-blog>.blogspot.com even if they go to http://<your-blog>.blogspot.com. If you choose to turn off this setting, visitors will have two options for viewing your blog: the unencrypted version at http://<your-blog>.blogspot.com or the encrypted version at https://<your-blog>.blogspot.com.”  – said by, Milinda Perera, Software Engineer, Security

However, Blogspot will still offer both access over HTTP and HTTPS. Because many blogspot templates and widgets may not work correctly over HTTPS, it’s probably worth testing both versions before making the full switch to HTTPS. On the other hand WordPress has been offering the same feature to all the websites on network since 2014. Moreover, recently wordpess has introduced this support to custom domains.
