WhatsApp brings 'Disappearing Media' feature with advanced functionality

Recently, Whatsapp introduced a feature that restricted users to forward an already forwarded message to more than one group chat at a time. Through this, the company intends to prevent spam and misinformation. Now, the instant messaging app is taking another step to ensure the user's privacy.

In the latest development, WhatsApp is releasing a feature that will not allow users to download media files in their phone’s gallery in disappearing chats. Till now, the feature was in the beta stage and is ready to roll out to general Android and iOS users.

As per a report by WAbetainfo, the latest WhatsApp update does not allow media shared in disappearing chats to save automatically in the camera roll. Thus, making the conversation more secure and private.

From the shared pictures, we can see that the ‘Media Visibility' option for disappearing chats is automatically turned off for Android devices. For iOS users, the ‘Save to Camera Roll’ option will be disabled. Well, generally, iOS users have to save a file manually on their phones. Regardless, once these options are turned off, no media file, including images, videos, or GIFs will be saved to your phone’s album.

Needless to say, the options will be turned off automatically once you're in a disappearing chat. In another case, if you wish to save the media in a disappearing chat, you can always change the respective settings.
