Samsung Galaxy S II Launching in 120 Regions, 10 Million Units Expected to Ship in 2011 [This Sounds Familiar]

The folks at Samsung are celebrating the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S2 in their home town of Seoul right now and the president of Samsung Mobile – JK Shin – had some words to day. The most interesting thing to come out of his mouth was that the Samsung Galaxy S II would be launched in 120 regions and that they expect to sell 10 million units by the end of this year. Sounds a lot like the Galaxy S doesn’t it? (And – if you didn’t know – they sold 14 million Galaxy S phones in just under a year.) Let’s see if the Galaxy S II will meet the same expectations that the original met.

Great App - Auto Updates Weather based on your GPS Location –Live Wallpaper

You like your live wallpapers? Always need the weather to be easily accesible with a glance? Well there are a ton of apps out there that will keep you updated on the weather via a widget, such as Beautiful Widget and GO Weather.

We’ve learned from XDA that there is a live wallpaper created by a member that will change as the weather changes, and updated depending on your location using GPS. This live wallpaper originated as a stock feature on the Samsung Galaxy S II. The videos have been extracted and compiled into an apk, and will possibly install on your Android device that supports live wallpaper. If you give this a try, let us know in the comments what device you have it running on, and of any issues you may have come across while using it. Check out the jump for a Youtube video from the XDA thread on this subject.

As the heading says, Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim is the Amazon App Stores free app of the day.
In this real-time strategy game, you start off as the newly crowned king, Raynald II, who takes the task to rid the kingdom of rats, which under the previous king (your father) named these same rats, “untouchable holy animals”. Each level of the game you are required to complete various tasks. This includes creating guilds for wizards and warriors, marketplaces, and other buildings. Within the buildings you can purchase heroes. You cannot directly command the heroes/units, but you can bribe them with money to take on tasks. All in taking strides to rid your kingdom of these rats. To beat each level you must find certain building to reach your objective. Hit the break for more, and even a video preview from HeroCraft.

The game take a bit of getting use to, while learning the UI. The soundtrack is great wich make the game better, and the graphics are pretty good, definitely brightly colored, and looked very vibrant on my Evo 4G. As I haven’t played through the game completely, but it has an enjoyable storyline, and simple enough to folow along as you play.
If this is a game you’d like to give a try head over to the Amazon App Store and download Majesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim, which is free all day today, a great discount from its regular price of $1.99.

WiFi HTC Flyer visits the FCC, leaves behind a line-drawn calling card

That, dear readers, is where you'll be able to find the FCC label on your brand new HTC Flyer -- well, assuming you decide to get in on the company's 7-inch dose of Android, and also assuming that HTC ever decides to actually release the thing in the US. We assume it does, as the machine has just been given the blessing of the FCC. This looks to be a WiFi-only model, also tested for BlueTooth compliance, but lacking 3G. So, if you got your pre-order in last week know that there's at least nothing federal standing between you and your $499 aluminum slice of Gingerbread, which we're still hoping will ship before the spring is through.

HTC Droid Incredible 2 now available from Verizon

It has been about a year (actually, it will be a year tomorrow, April 29), since the Droid Incredible impressed us with what used to be amazing specs at the time. Though our beloved Droid Incredible is still good enough to satisfy the average user, this does not defeat the fact that it is a year-old phone, and that is a lot of time in Android years. We have been hearing about the HTC Droid Incredible 2 for some months now, and it finally received its official price and release date last Tuesday (Along with the Casio G’zOne Commando).
The device was confirmed to be released today, and now the HTC Droid Incredible 2 is over at Verizon’s site begging you to purchase it. The highly anticipated Droid Incredible successor can now be yours for $199.99 after a two-year contract, or the “incredible” price of just $439.99 off-contract.
HTC Droid Incredible 2 Specs:
  • Android 2.2 Froyo with HTC Sense 2.0
  • 4-inch Super LCD Display
  • 1GHz second generation Qualcomm Snapdragon processor
  • 768 MB of RAM
  • 8 MP rear-facing camera / 1.3 MP front-facing camera
  • 1450 mAh battery

As Nick Gray mentioned on his first impressions of the Droid Incredible 2, this device may not be as stunning as the Thunderbolt, but it is a great device for everyday use, and the price is also $50 lower. To learn more about the Incredible 2 check out Nick’s article, and let us know if you will be snatching up this device! What do you think of it?

HTC Rider, Kingdom Show Up in Leaks; HTC DoubleShot to be MyTouch 4G Slide?

Ready for another round of new HTC-bred devices? 911 Sniper got their hands on a few images of some as-yet unannounced HTC phones. First is the HTC Rider and that’s about all I can say about it. Well, it has a red bezel. And it also has what I think is a front-facing camera. Oh, and a screen that’s most likely 4.3 inches in size. Other than that, though, we aren’t treated to much. It looks almost exactly like the HTC Thunderbolt and AT&T’s Inspire 4G.

Then there’s the HTC Kingdom, and its deal is very much like the Rider – not much to go on and looks awfully familiar to other HTC products. In fact, these phones look so similar that it’d be easy for one to mistake them for devices already launched. We’re not saying they’re fake, but we can’t tell either way.
Anywho, the Kingdom looks like it’ll have a qHD display, but we’re unsure about the screen size. The image makes it look thinner and taller than a normal 4.3 inch form factor. And I’m sure that’s not due to the qHD display because the HTC EVO 3D had the same aspect ratio as the original.
If real, these phones are expected to be next generation devices for European countries. (Namely, one of these will be the European version of the EVO 3D, apparently.) Check out images of the Rider (above) and Kingdom (below) courtesy of 911 Sniper (1,2).

Finally, it looks like we’re starting to get more details about the HTC DoubleShot, a phone that was rumored a couple of months ago but didn’t bring with it any sort of clue as to what type of phone it’d be. We later found out that it had a QWERTY keyboard, and now we know why – it’ll be a 4G version of the MyTouch Slide that many of you are fond of. The word comes by way of 911 Sniper who has provided a leaked radio. That’s about all we’re going to get at this point, but the pieces to this puzzle are finally starting to fall into place.
