Google Messages enables user to Star texts, photos/videos on Android

As we reported earlier, Google has planned to roll out a set of features for several apps. Earlier this month, the software giant released the ability to pin conversation and end-to-end encryption for its messaging app. Now, the long-awaited, Star messages feature is also rolling out for Google Messages on Android.

Now, in order to save a received or sent message, you don't need to screenshot. The ability to star texts and images in Google Messages is rolling out on version 8.4, which is currently in the beta phase. After flashing the update, the user can now Star the text message, photos, or videos to save them.

The starred text or media file will be saved separately under a category called "Starred messages." This feature was announced before as a part of Android’s summer additions series. The ability to star content in Google Messages is now having a wider rollout.

GOOGLE MESSAGES

To Star a text or picture, all you have to do is long-press the message and you will see a 'star' icon at the top-right corner of your screen. Once starred, the text/image/video will have a blue mark at the bottom-right corner.

The new Starring trait in Google Messages will start to roll out more widely in the upcoming weeks.

Game Launcher, Private Share, SoundAssistant, Digital Wellbeing, and One Hand Operation+ get new updates

A few days back, the Samsung Gallery and Notes apps have received new updates with a couple of changes and new features. Now, Samsung has released new updates to a couple of applications, including the Game Launcher, Private Share, SoundAssistant, Digital Wellbeing, and One Hand Operation+.

Game Launcher update


Talking about the Game Launcher's update first, it houses performance improvements, bug fixes and also brings some changes. From now, your games will be grouped automatically. It means you will no longer need to waste your time searching for games or arranging folders. Users can also enjoy instant plays with downloading and as usual. You can enjoy games on your device via the Game launcher.

Private Share


Forthcoming to the private share update, it adds a few changes to the application. Besides the changes, there's nothing new in this update. When installing Private Share, a Private number is automatically generated so that you can use Private Share even on smartphones/tablets without phone numbers. Both Phone numbers and Private numbers can be used, or one number of them can also be selected.

The maximum capacity sum has been changed from 20MB to 100MB. As file capacity increases, Private Share users should be updated App.

SoundAssistant


Concerning SoundAssistant's update, it brings several new features and holds the firmware version v4.1.00.2. Previous, Samsung has removed some of its features like floating button and others. However, the latest update restores the floating button and enables customizing via volume panel (Interworking with Themepark).

Apart from these, the new update also fixes the problem that the concert hall doesn't work intermittently.

Digital Wellbeing


The new update for the Digital Wellbeing introduces the turn on or off Bedtime mode feature. And it also adds several fixes for some minor bugs.

One Hand Operation+


Last but not least, the One Hand Operation+ update compromises the bug fixes and stability improvements.

Vivo announces a 6GB RAM variant of Vivo Y51A in India

This year in January, the BBK owned company launched the Vivo Y51A. Till now, the device offered a single storage variant of 128GB paired with 8GB RAM. Now, the Chinese giant has announced the device in a 6GB RAM variant with a similar memory configuration for Indian markets.

The new 128GB internal storage and 6GB RAM variant of Vivo Y51A is worth Rs 16,990 (~$229). The smartphone is available in two color variants of Crystal Symphony and Titanium Sapphire. It can be purchased through the official Vivo India online store.

Moreover, Vivo has some offers for the new device variant. The buyers can grab the Vivo Y51A via Bajaj Finance, IDFC First Bank, HDB, Home Credit, TVS Credit, and Zest Money at zero-down payment cost. Samsung Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) receives Android 11 update

Samsung is now focusing to update its older flagships with the latest stable channel. The company is expanding the Android 11 OS for the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 (2019) to few more markets with Core One UI 3.1. FYI, the Core One UI 3.1 is the lighter version of One UI 3.1. Oppo Reno gets Android 11 based ColorOS 11 beta update in India

Oppo has performed an exceptional job in rolling out Android 11 ColorOS 11 to its flagships. Adhering to the June 2021 roadmap, the Chinese giant is sending Android 11 based ColorOS 11 Beta to the standard Oppo Reno units in India. The device debuted in late 2019 in the country with Android 9 (Pie) pre-installed.

As mentioned, the latest firmware for Oppo Reno is rolling out in India. It will probably expand to other regions after ensuring that there are no critical bugs. The Android 11 ColorOS 11 update is out in a beta version. Interested users can register and apply themselves in the first batch of Beta testers from June 29 to July 3.

However, there are some eligibility criteria for this as well. If you are enrolling in the program, make sure your phone has updated to version (Detectable Version): C.37/C.38. Also, Oppo has listed some must-know key points before you register the device for the program:




  • Please backup important data on the phone before updating to avoid data loss.

  • Updating might lead to your device heating, lagging, and fast battery draining.

  • Some third-party applications are not compatible with Android 11. Therefore, after updating these applications might not be available or have technical issues.


Oppo Reno

To register for the ColorOS 11 (Android 11) Beta update, follow the ‘guide to apply’ in Settings > Software Update > Click the settings icon on the screen > Apply for Beta Version > Update Beta Version.

Once applied, Oppo will review your application in a week and if it is a success, your drive will bag the update soon. However, you might have to wait for the next round in case the application quota is full.

Samsung rolls out the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update to the Galaxy M10s

Samsung introduced the Galaxy M10s in 2019, and a year after the successful launch, the company has discontinued it along with a few other M Series smartphones. And now, the device has started receiving a new update with the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 (Skin). The update weighs around 1911.90 MB and carries the firmware version M107FXXU4CUF5, and already many users from India have started getting it.

Concerning changes, the new firmware incorporates a bunch of changes, new features, optimizations, fixes for known issues and loopholes, and improvements to the system and applications.

The update includes Android 11 goodies like Chat bubbles, Smart device controls, One-time permissions and auto-reset, Conversation notifications, built-in screen recorder, Notification history, and so on. Apart from these, the new firmware also includes the July 2021 Security Patch.

Though, the update brings fixes for some minor bugs and optimized system performance.

  • [August 11, 2020]: Xiaomi has started spinning out the August 2020 Security patch update for Mi A3. The new update is rolling out globally with firmware version V11.0.20.0.QFQMIXM weighs 35.55 MB in size. The company has not included any new changes/ features to the device via this update. So, the update generally comes with bug fixes for user-reported issues and it may also include a few improvements.

  • [July 29, 2020]: Xiaomi Mi A3 is receiving July 2020 security patch in some parts of Europe. The build bears the firmware version V11.0.5.0.QFQEUXM. It is a usual security update that specifically addresses bugs and vulnerabilities to enhance your device's security and does not bring any new features.


The OTA update will be pushed in different batches and may take some time to reach all the users based on their location and carrier. If you don’t receive a notification for the update in the next few days, you may need to manually check for the update by navigating to Settings  > Software Update > Check for the Update.

Poco M2 grabs a software optimization update in India

Xiaomi is dedicatedly seeding out updates to all of its eligible devices. The company is still following the rollout schedule for its latest skin, MIUI 12.5 with all-new features. Presently, Xiaomi’s sub-brand Poco M2 is receiving a new software update in India that brings system optimizations.

OnePlus is preparing a device that will be the successor of last year's launch, OnePlus Nord. The upcoming device will be named as OnePlus Nord 2 5G which is likely to launch in July 2021.
