Android 13 QPR1 Beta 2 rolling out for Pixel smartphones

Google is rolling out Android 13 QPR1 Beta 2 for eligible Pixel smartphones. To recall, the first beta was released last month. After one more beta update, we can see a stable release by the end of this year. In the meantime, let's check out what the second beta brings.

For the unaware, the Quarterly Platform Release (QPR) intends to resolve different bugs and small issues that come packed the OS. In fact, Google says these “builds are suitable for general use.” The Android 13 QPR1 Beta 2 is available for eligible Pixel smartphones. This includes Pixel 4a,  Pixel 4a 5GPixel 5Pixel 5aPixel 6Pixel 6 Pro, and Pixel 6a. The beta builds for all devices are bundled with the firmware version T1B2.220916.004.

However, this time, the tech giant did not enlist the “top resolved issues.” Although it does upgrades the security maintenance to October 2022. Also, it resolves bugs and brings optimizations to improve system performance and stability. In addition, we do have some changes found in the Android 13 QPR1 Beta 2.

  • Cleaner design for the upcoming Safety Center page.

  • UI tweaks in the media player and the ability to hide control from the lock screen. To hide the control, look for “Show media on lock screen” settings under Settings app > Sound & vibration > Media. Alternatively, you can long-pressing on an active media player.

  • Added a new page, "app battery usage" that allows users to "set battery usage for apps" via Settings > Apps.

  • New "battery defender for dock" feature for Pixel tablet that will pause the device's charging during the night.

  • A "low light dream" setting for Pixel tablet that will possibly activate when docked and in low ambient light.

  • The “Sound & vibration” sheet while adjusting volume with side buttons or tapping the overflow menu is now centralized.

Apart from the above-mentioned changes, there are more traits to explore in QPR1 Beta 2. The existing developers can flash the new build on their respective Pixel smartphones. Lastly, they can detail issues and file bugs on the Android Beta Feedback app.

Poco X5 5G appears on IMEI database, specs leaked

Earlier this year, the Chinese tech giant unveiled the Poco X4 and Poco X4 Pro. It seems like the company is gearing up to unveil the successor model: the Poco X5 series. The lineup can include two smartphones: Poco X5 and Poco X5 Pro. As always, there are no words from the brand yet. Ahead of any official announcement, the vanilla Poco X5 5G has made an appearance on the IMEI database. Here's what we know about the upcoming phone so far.

As per the IMEI listing, the Poco X5 5G will bear the model number 22101320G. The last letter 'G' here suggests that the device will launch in the global markets. FYI, the smartphone will also go official in India with the 22101320I model number. Also, it will unveil in China under the Redmi sub-branding bearing the model number 22101320C.

Besides the model number, the listing does not divulge any other details. Although we do have some render leaks with us. Like its predecessor, the Poco X5 5G will be a budget offering. The device can feature an IPS LCD display panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it is likely to draw power from a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC.

The FCC listing of the upcoming Garmin smartphone reveals the model number A04348. In addition, it confirms a few details, including connectivity options, battery onboard, charging capacity, and more.

Like every wireless communication device, it offers Bluetooth, NFC, GPS, and more. A 221 mAh battery will keep the system working bearing the 361-00157-00 model number. The power unit will be backed up by a 5W charging cable that can be identified with 320-01069-10 model number.

Besides the above mentioned details, the FCC website does not disclose any further details. Although we do have some more specs. For the record the same Garmin Smartwatch was spotted on the Singaporean telecoms agency website. The TLA portal confirmed a few specs as well. However, the name is still under cover.

It divulages that the upcoming Garmin Smartwatch will be a multisports wearable. Even so, there's not much other information that slipped. It did confirm the presence of ANT+ and Bluetooth onboard. Moroever, the watch will not be equipped with Wi-Fi connectivity.

Galaxy A11 gets its last major software update with Android 12

While Samsung is busy testing the One UI 5.0 skin iteration for some smartphones, the company did not forget its older devices. On that note, the Galaxy A11 is picking a major software update with Android 12. To recall, this is a two-year-old budget device that was launched with Android 10 out of the box.

The latest software update for the Galaxy A11 is bundled with the firmware version A115FXXU3CVI3. As of now, it is rolling out in Sri Lanka, but we can expect it to expand to other regions as well. Samsung rolls out Android 12 update to Galaxy Tab A8 in Europe

Samsung is testing the One UI 5.0 beta for some of its high-end and mid-range flagships. Until then, the company is still delivering the Android 12 update to its eligible smartphones. On that note, Galaxy Tab A8 is receiving a new major software update based on One UI 4.0. For the record, the device was launched back in January with Android 11 pre-installed.
